Research & Storyboarding
We took time to read about Henry Brown and created a storyboard. The storyboard is our prewriting organizer for our script. It will also help us with set design as we develop our play.
Preparing Our Proposal
Before we could move forward with the play, we wanted to make sure that we had an audience. Of course we are going to film and share our play digitally, but we also wanted a live audience. We needed permission from Mr. Miller.
Below is the video clip of us practicing the proposal we wrote for Mr. Miller. We looked at the video, talked about what was really good about our presentation and what we could do to make it even better when we shared it with Mr. Miller.

What We Realized From Our Recording:
We got the Green Light from Mr. Miller!
- We had good information.
- We read clearly.
- We need to look at our audience.
- We need to remember to sit up tall.
We got the Green Light from Mr. Miller!
Our Schedule
Writing A Script
We knew we needed help writing our script about Henry "Box" Brown. Luckily, Judy Wolfman, is willing to help us. She is a published playwright and has written a transcript about Henry "Box" Brown. We took notes as she talked with us.
Writing
We took a look at a script to determine what the elements of script writing are. We also brainstormed effective writing techniques in order to write an interesting, well-developed script. Our notes can be found here.
Script Writing: We broke up into 6 groups to write a script for each scene. Then, a core group of script writers, along with Ms. Judy, worked to revise and edit the script.
Practice
We practiced the scenes and took notes on what we wanted to work on.
Publicizing Our Event
We created a program.
Creating Backdrops For Our Play
